Our experienced and qualified Family Support Team is here to help families with the concerns that go beyond physical care. Family Support visits can take place at home or in one of our centres and are on offer to the whole family.
The Team comprises a Counselling team, Music and Play Therapists, a Chaplaincy team and a Social Work team.
Coming from such a range of professional backgrounds they work together to offer emotional, spiritual and social support to the patient and close family members. This support can begin from the first visit through to bereavement support.
Our skilled and experienced counsellors can help the patient and family, including children, understand thoughts and feelings arising from the illness. These feelings can affect relationships and the way we react to one another.
We can also help in a variety of personal and practical ways, such as accompanying a patient to an important appointment; providing transport to day therapy and other groups in our adapted minibus or in private cars; or simply spending time with patients when they feel most vulnerable.
