Bereavement is something that most people experience at some time in their lives. It is a time of change and adjustment which can be very challenging.
So, following a death we continue to care for the deceased person and their family, providing bereavement support for relatives and close friends; and by offering one-to-one counselling, if it is required, during this time of transition and readjustment.
The bereavement support team will contact the next of kin six weeks after a death to offer further group or individual support and counselling, if required.
They will do all they can to meet religious or cultural needs, and are sensitive to personal wishes. Where expressed, the requests of the individual will be met as far as is reasonably possible.
We also run an informal weekly coffee morning for bereaved people at the EllenorLions Centre in Dartford.
