I became a trustee of the Ellenor Foundation in 2005 and was very happy to remain a trustee when the charity merged with the Lions Hospice to become EllenorLions.
I have been a volunteer with the Chaplaincy Team since 2002 working with both the Adult service and chYps. Prior to this I was working for the NHS as a pre-school teacher for children with severe learning difficulties. This involved working with the child?s family as well. In my spare time I studied for Pastoral Ministry and completed this in 2003.
As a ?hands on? trustee and being involved as a volunteer in all parts of the service, with both adults and children, I see my role as being an advocate for our patients and their families. Having worked with families and children for the past 20 years I sometimes felt frustrated that those who make the rules have no idea what it is like to be a user. Being a trustee of the EllenorLions Hospices enables me to ensure they have a voice.
